Well I guess I'm not the only one who had to download a 2gb file because of a 20mb update.
Downloaded the thing twice last night and can't even get to the log-in screen.
After a bunch of restarts (after I downloaded and got the "your client is corrupt" message when the files were unpacking), I finally got the thing to install. Splash screen appears, then a "CCP file has stopped working" message and a big fat CTD.
So I uninstall the thing, restart a couple more times and try the install again - this time I get the same "your client is corrupt" message I got in the first place.
Left the thing running overnight to download via bittorrent, and that won't unpack properly either.
There's something very screwy going on here - WTF is up with this patch process, this is just painful!
Why don't the devs stop buggering about with game balance and fix the damn patch process!? Talk about running before you can walk.... and this game is 6 years old!

Day 3 and still can't get a working download of the client.
Where's the Tech support?

Someone posted the link to the full 88737 client - another FAIL for me. After 3 hours of downloading its - CRC errors once again
I'm not sure what the problem here is - I don't think its with my machine as with the installer itself or the way it interacts with windows.
I was able to download and install the older client file on another PC on the same network - it unpacked and installed without any problems.
I even ran the 7zip test on the downloaded file - and it came back clean. So I plug in my portable HDD and transfer the file to my main PC - and the "working" file suddenly gives me CRC errors on unpack.
I've even done a clean install of windows on my main PC thinking that some sort of software conflict might be causing the problem - but its a no go.
If anyone has any other ideas, I'd love to hear them. Otherwise I will be cancelling my subscription next week.

i dont talk about the issue itself, but they could atleast say a word...
It would be nice to have a CCP rep address this issue - as it seems to be affecting a fair few people.
At the least a pinned thread would seem warranted - at least an acknowledgement would be nice.

Not me - already tried that link. Same thing - CRC unpack error.

Originally by: Solbright The corrupt install problem is some sort of multitasking bug with the installer.
The workaround is to force the installer to use just one processor core.
Worth a try - how do you do that?

I just did a complete Windows reinstall from the disk last night - and tried another download of the client overnight. CRC errors again - though 7-Zip test I ran on the archive file told me that the download itself was corrupt.
Thinking that the issue might be with slower connection speeds. My internet connection is about 1.5mbs, though only 250K or so on download.
Honestly though I'm really not sure - I've run several RAM tests and the checkdisk for bad sectors on the HDD and nothing has shown up. I will probably replace the RAM to get it up to 4gb and see if that makes a difference. If that doesn't work then I'm totally out of ideas - the PC runs every other application I have fine, downloads fine, surfs the internet fine, has more than the mimimum hardware spec to run EVE.
Gonna try another download tonight, then will probably try it on STEAM.
If that doesn't work - then only option is to cancel the account.
CCP have offered no help or comment on this - and from looking at the archive threads - this is a pretty common issue. Might be an idea to start a dedicated thread for CRC validation / checksum errors and see if that gets any hits.

Originally by: Exlegion I have 4 gigs of RAM on my system and a quad-core Intel processor, so I doubt RAM is the problem. Although I've read multi-cores possibly being the culprits. I too tried using 7-Zip to extract the file and I also got a message every time stating the one of the files was corrupt/incomplete.
CCP, are you looking into this? It would put me at a little bit of ease to know that you're aware of this problem and that it might be from your end so I don't have to keep trying to fix it from my end. Even if it takes a while, I just would like to know if there's something I'm doing wrong from my end so as to try and correct it.
That's the same thing for me - 7zip says that the download is corrupted.
What's your connection speed? (takes me about 2 1/2 hours to download full client - about 250kb/sec on download).

Exactly the same connection setup I have - though the bandwidth is split with my downstairs neighbours.

Yeah I saw that too - I'll give it a go when I get home.
Failing that only other thing I can do is try STEAM in a few days (assuming a more recent client is available on their servers by then).
Oddly enough I started playing the game through STEAM - but had to get the dedicated client from the EVE site because the STEAM version wouldn't update.

Downloaded 88974_m and it worked!!! :) Give it a try.
Congrats Man - I'll give it a go tonight.
Perhaps sacrifice a few small animals to the Gods beforehand. Maybe that will help

Afraid that didn't work for me either. Guess I'll be trying a RAM upgrade at the weekend.
